"Federal officials have 270 days to devise a way of identifying electronic gambling transactions and preventing Americans from taking part in them… Many experts on gambling, e-commerce and the law say the odds are extremely long that the feds will be able to come up with a set of regulations." Another problematic aspect of the bill will require federal authorities to provide Internet service providers with a list of gambling sites to be blocked, a scheme that has previously proven futile.

"…society is weakened every time a law is passed that large numbers of reasonable, responsible citizens think is stupid. Such laws invite good citizens to choose knowingly to break the law, confident that they are doing nothing morally wrong. The reaction to Prohibition, the 20th century's stupidest law, is the archetypal case."

Is there any doubt that this legislation is purely political, and was only passed to serve the interests of a small group of lobbyists?
The bill was passed on the grounds that gambling is potentially immoral, but you don't see the government limiting land based casinos in NV and NY!
Also the bill was supposedly meant to prevent U.S Dollars from "escaping" the country towards online operators based abroad, but the free market is the U.S's #1 export "product", and the basis of the economy, is it not?! So it's a free global market until a non-American starts profiting from it, isn't that right bush??
I would say that the current administration was behaving like a twisted communist regime, but communist regimes had some trace of ideology behind their actions. This administration is plain and simple opportunist, and they LIE about it to your FACE!

I agree with you 100%, but at least the internet is still a free country. They can’t stop me from going to a site from another country and playing all I want. There are enough places that don’t care about the American government banning them. I play at www.machinesasouscasino.com and I know that the real owners of the site can’t really be traced, and if they can they don’t really care, they are not American.
Maybe they can stop you in china, but not from my house.
